FLEA SERVICE

(Inside Only)

Revised 6/12/19

Fleas are parasites that feed on humans and other warm blooded animals. When you have a flea problem you and your pets serve as the host. Most of the time, fleas prefer a nonhuman source for feeding, but if infestations are heavy, or when other hosts are not available, fleas will feed on humans. Fleas usually require warm and humid conditions to develop.

There are three (3) main parts to any flea service – not addressing each will usually cause the flea treatment to fail. Most flea infestations stem from pets. The customer’s cat or dog might have caught fleas while running around the yard, or from other animals during boarding or a play date. The first step is always treating the source of the problem as soon as possible. It makes no sense to treat the entire house if your pet is going to keep bringing fleas back in.

Second is the inside treatment of the house. We will need full access to the structure for inspection and treatment, including the garage, crawl space and basement. The customer and all pets need to stay out of the structure for at least 3 hours. This prevents pesticide pick-up and possible staining from dirt being brought in contact with damp carpets.

And finally, the outside also needs to be treated. If the yard is not treated, the customer and all pets will continually be bringing in more fleas from the outside. Factors that can lead to a large outdoor flea population on your property include heavily shaded areas, crawl spaces where wildlife and feral strays might sleep or sheltered enclosures such as dog houses.
