INITIAL PEST TREATMENT

(for follow-on Home Shield Services)

Revised 6/12/19

Household pests live in or occasionally invade households and commercial structures. Common household pests include ants, spiders, silverfish, crickets, roaches, mice, and a wide variety of other insects and pests. While some can damage food, clothing, rugs and furniture, others can carry disease.

Pests are not simply a nuisance – they can also affect the health of our customers. This is why pest prevention is critical in protecting homes, businesses, schools and any other place where humans live, work and play.

The Initial Pest Treatment is used to create a hygienic and pest free environment, and forms the foundation for follow-on Home Shield Services. During the treatment, the main focus lies on the elimination of existing pest populations. But it also provides a protective barrier against these pests – it helps keep them from coming back since the majority of them come from the outside.

Understanding the problem is the first step in finding a healthy solution. Once a pest is identified, you will be better able to determine the factors which limit its reproduction and survival potential. For example, all pests need water, shelter and food to survive. By limiting one or more of these basic necessities you can significantly impact the number of pests present, and can make a more significant impact for the customer.

The Initial Pest Treatment starts by doing a complete and thorough walk-through inspection, ensuring that all birds and birdcages are removed, ensuring that any fish tank recirculating pump is turned off and that all fish and reptile tanks are covered. Inside, treat along windowsills, baseboards, doorframes, underneath sinks, in between any appliances, and in other areas dictated below. Outside, treat along the perimeter of the home, and around windows, doors, cracks and crevices. In addition, inspect for, treat and knock down any wasp nests and spider webs.
